New iPad 3 Benchmark Speed

The new iPad’s release date is still a couple of days away, but some people from Vietnam seem to have gotten their hands on a unit ahead of time, and have been showing it off with a video on YouTube. Knowledge of their language isn’t required, thankfully, so you can watch the video without getting too lost.

They first showed off the basics of the new iPad, such as iCloud, the model (16GB + 4G), model number and even theserial number, and went on to explore just what the tablet could do. Some of these features were then compared to theiPad 2, such as the rear camera, and appearance. The latter hasn’t changed at all, and at first glance the two devices are extremely similar, but the newer device’s camera is a little larger than the iPad 2. Unfortunately, they didn’t play around with the apps, but off-camera, they did something more significant than that.
Apparently they tested just how fast and powerful the new iPad is, because they ran benchmark tests using Geekbench, an app that measures the performance of a computer or mobile device. The results?
It received a score of 756, and the tablet’s CPU is at 1GHz, practically identical to the iPad 2′s own processor. However, the RAM of the newer tablet has it beat at 1GB, making the new iPad just a little faster than the previous generation.
Of course, there’s still the possibility that this is not a real thing, and simply a good imitation. The tablet’s release is only a few days away, and maybe then we can see some real results of the benchmark tests.
