It’s now a done deal- after being the talk of the town, Apple is getting ready to introduce something new to the world. The company’s set out a bunch of media invitations for a private event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California, saying “We have something you really want to see. And touch.”
These words are the caption to an image of what looks like the bottom edge of an iPad, which makes everyone think that Apple will finally give the next generation of iOS tablets, dubbed iPad 3 by reporters, an official announcement. After all, what else could it be? Of course, some may argue that this might be a new iPhone or iPod touch instead, but the device is too thin to be a new smartphone, and too wide to be an iPod.
Some people think there might be a new Apple TV at the event as well because of the phrasing of Apple’s invitation. The words “something you really want to see” also imply that it will be either a TV with amazing graphical capacity or something else entirely. Well, whatever it will be, Apple is hoping to make a big splash at the event.
Here’s a rundown of some notable rumors concerning the iPad 3′s features:
- Siri, the voice recognition control feature from the iPhone 4S.
- A6 quad-core processor.
- Retina display of 2048 x 1536px, found previously in the iPhone 4S.
- A 4G LTE model with Verizon and/or AT&T as the providers.
Apple’s event will take place on March 7, at 10am PST.
Subscribers of one of America’s largest telecommunications network Sprint were very happy to have been given the good news that Sprint has partnered with Apple in producing Apple devices made especially for the network. This information has been released late last year to users anticipating an iPhone and iPad offer from Sprint.
Before the end of 2011, Sprint has included the iPhone 4s into its list of devices offered in its subscription plans, following it with an announcement of 4G LTE plans for 2012. Rumors were immediately spread of a 4G LTE Sprint iPad 3 being imminent for the upcoming year with online sites predicting a simultaneous release of the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 from the network. But with the first quarter of 2012 at its last month, little has been heard of any follow up from Sprint regarding this issue.
The release of the iPad 3 has been long anticipated by the public after the unveiling of iPad 2 which was seen by some of our online sources as merely an upgraded version of the first iPad. Speculations regarding the features and specs of the upcoming iPad 3 have pique the imagination of the tech-savvy, but while Apple has yet to officially announce information regarding their newest tablet, consumers will have to settle for rumors leaked on the internet.
Online sources report of leaked information regarding certain specs of the iPad 3 including a quad-core A6 SoC processor, an upgraded camera (rumors claim 8 megapixels) with a Retina display rumored to have a 2048 x 1536 resolution, and a 4G LTE wireless compatibility.
While Sprint has not yet said anything about the subject, online sites have seen it possible in having a Sprint-specific iPad 3 in the near future with Sprint’s silence seen as a tactic to increase the hype surrounding its release. As for Apple’s unveiling of the iPad 3, March 7th is the date for the official launching of the much awaited tablet.
